Life under President Obama? — Like Life Under WA Democrats?         10/27/2008

and the problem of One Party Rule

I promised myself that THIS year I would not get depressed if “my” candidates didn’t win.

The Sky Won’t Fall In (Hopefully), for at least most of us, if Obama / Biden are elected.

Politics and Life will both go on.  I will cope if Barack Obama gets elected.

I do NOT think this will necessarily be the best for the nation or the world.  But I have told myself that an Obama Administration should be a fascinating time to live through.  And, personally, it will be a great opportunity to try to make this Website more of a “presence”.

It will be fascinating seeing a “President Obama” trying to make all his Promises to the People come true, within the constraints he has set for himself.

Presidents can rarely deliver on all their Campaign Promises.  (And maybe its just as well, when they don’t.)  But if their original supporters are devoted enough, it often doesn’t seem to matter to them.  I guess it’s just the thought that counts.

One Party Rule

Suddenly it hits me.

Life in the Nation might really be foreshadowed by what Life in Washington State under the Democratic Party rule has been, mostly, for some 24 years.

In Washington State, we have had some 24 Years of Democratic Party Rule.

That’s how long the Democrats have controlled the Governor’s office.

Its pretty obvious, that Democrats control our WA State Supreme Court.

Not only are Democrats now in majority control of our State House and Senate, but they could be on the road to some kind of Super Majority in the State Legislature, that they didn’t like us having as Property Tax Payers on the School District Level.

If any non-Washingtonian is reading this, I’d like to tell you that One Party Rule is as unsatisfying in Washington State under the Democrats, as perhaps some of you might think it has been under the Republicans on the National Level.  We have a projected deficit of some 3 or so Billion Dollars to look forward to in Washington State.  Chris Gregoire says she needs 4 more years to get through all of her agenda.  But somehow we won’t need new taxes.  A bailout from the Feds?  Yeah, right.

But for me its not the financial stuff.  It’s the “attitude”.

It’s the attitude that your side is ALWAYS the side with the Whole Truth About Everything.

Think about it — Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama.

Well, if this is in the cards, maybe the Rest of the Nation will discover how it is to live in

The Other Washington.
