Dear Voters and Other Readers:

For us political junkies and/or residents of Clark County, WA, the General Election of 2008 did not end on Tuesday Night, November 4, 2008.

Oprah and 99.99 Percent of Americans in places like Grant’s Park in Chicago, or Republican headquarters throughout the USA, might have already experienced the highest peak or deepest nadir of their political  lifetimes, with the Election of Barack Obama to the Presidency.  But real political junkies who check out this site, might be more interested in the resolution of a Clark County Commissioner race, or in reading about the sleeper race of Washington State that might mean the greatest real change in this state — the nonpartisan Superintendant of Public Instruction.

In the Pacific Northwest states of WA and OR, we operate greatly with a Mail-In Voting System.  Oregon is ALL Mail-In.  In Washington State, each county decides for itself, though most opt for mail-in.

Most WA ballots were mailed out on October 15th.

At the beginning of the Mail-In Period, I gave a suggestion:

Don’t Fill Out That Mail-In Ballot Too Early!

(I suggested mailing in a ballot for those in the continental US, on Wed or Thursday of the week just before Nov 4th.)

Well, I was vindicated!  There were lots of last minute developments, that all those people who send their mail-in ballots really early really missed out on.  I’ll cover these in the Analysis & Updates to the Elections.

You can still find all the pre-Nov. 4th essays and comments in the old Election Chapter Links to the left:

Gold Boxes have the Links to the Federal Elections;

Blue-Green Pages have WA State Elections & Issues;

Purple Pages have Local Elections: Clark County Commissioner, and
